What is Love?

What is love? Well, many are familiar with ‘God is love’ from 1 John 4:8. How do we know we love God; and therefore our neighbor? But again, I rely on 1 John, this time verse 5:3, “For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, because everyone born of God overcomes the world.”

We know God, and through the clarity of Jesus Christ, who commanded many things for us to observe; and they certainly are not a bunch of arbitrary rules & regulations devoid of being instrumental in learning a more heartfelt disciplined way of learning to love God and neighbor. And Jesus Christ said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. “ Matthew 5:17 And “But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for a single stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law.” Luke 16:17
~ So far so good some clarity in The Scriptures, which, are the most extremely important part of the Word of God, however is best understood through The Church, for, “which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth,” ref. 1 Timothy 3:15 so, also, “the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
~ Shouldn’t we remember that Church means a Community of Christian believers? And by, “Then Jesus came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. As was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath.” – Luke 4:16; that Jesus Christ Himself practiced religion. And we know, He set and example for us. Jesus Christ also said, that, ‘For I say to you that unless your righteousness shall abound above that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall never enter into the kingdom of the heavens.” – Matthew 5:20 Where do we go to learn specific Words of God, to grow in relationship with God?
~ Many times persons fall into the idea, well I don’t need to be among ‘them,’ and from an imperfect in serving love perspective ourselves, pointing or thinking, so many of them are sanctimonious people looking down on others; doing exactly what the criticism entails. Isn’t it better to ask, seek, and knock — forming relationships within the Church to learn the compassion of looking at others without judgement but to mutually help one another with the discerned gifts we each have been graces by? Shouldn’t we remember the Assembly at the Tent of Meeting where all of Israel, gathered at times? Shouldn’t we remember that God set up a place to specifically hear His Word to learn a true relationship with Him? Shouldn’t we remember, “And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25
~ So please, please, please consider that steam rolling over the past several decades certain philosophies of licence to opposeThe precepts of the LORD are right, making the heart glad; the command of the LORD is radiant, making the eyes light up.” – Psalm 19:8 are very much responsible for the current climate in society? Yes, many of the people of God, failed greatly in history – or ended up opposing God (God forbid!); causing much harm — but we need to gather together to learn from “He has made it clear to you, mortal man, what is good and what the LORD is requiring from you— to act with justice, to treasure the LORD’s gracious love, and to walk humbly in the company of your God.” – Micah 6:8; for constant healing and hopeful renewal within the Church for bringing healing to a hurting world. We have all noticed that the philosophies alluded to above haven’t helped; but increased, greatly, the painful to many persons in the world. So please, ask, seek, and knock and find heartfelt compassionate assertive believers to forming relationships.
~ “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26
